Fitting and compatibility
Will LineKeeper work with my broadband hub?
If the label on your hub's power plug says 12V, yes. That covers current hubs from BT, EE, Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Plusnet, plus the white Openreach fibre box on the wall. The adapter tips and the splitter lead are in the box.
Do I need an engineer to fit it?
No. Unplug the hub's power lead, plug it into LineKeeper, then plug LineKeeper's lead into the hub. It takes about 60 seconds, with no app and no settings.
Does it work with full fibre (FTTP)?
Yes. Full fibre homes have a separate white Openreach box on the wall as well as the hub. Use the splitter lead in the box so 1 LineKeeper powers both.
What if my hub's plug doesn't say 12V?
Then LineKeeper isn't the right fit, and we'd rather tell you than sell you something useless. Check the label on the plug before you order — and if it arrives and doesn't fit, the 90-day money-back guarantee covers a full refund.
What if I move house or change provider?
Unplug it and take it with you. It works with any UK hub whose plug says 12V, so switching from BT to Sky or Virgin to Vodafone makes no difference.
Where should I keep the unit?
Behind the telly or next to the hub is fine. Keep it dry, out of direct sun, and don't cover it — like any battery, it likes a bit of air. It has no fan and makes no noise.
Power cuts and runtime
How long does the battery last in a power cut?
4 hours or more on a typical hub, from a 74 Wh battery. Running the fibre box as well, or an older power-hungry hub, brings that down. A small modern hub makes it last longer. Either way, that's several times the 1-hour minimum providers work to.
What actually happens when the power goes off?
LineKeeper takes over in the same instant — a zero-second handover — so the hub never restarts. Your dial tone, Wi-Fi and anything that calls out through the line, like a pendant alarm, carry on without a gap.
What happens if the whole area loses power?
LineKeeper powers the equipment in your home. Your provider's network has its own backup power further up the line, and in most power cuts the weak link is the hub in your front room. That's the link LineKeeper fixes.
What happens when the power comes back on?
LineKeeper hands back to the mains automatically and recharges itself. You don't need to do anything.
Can it power anything else, like a TV or laptop?
No. LineKeeper is made only for broadband hubs and fibre boxes. That's what lets a small, safe battery last 4 hours or more.
Is it safe to leave plugged in all the time?
Yes, that's what it's built for. It sits behind the telly, keeps itself topped up and does nothing until it's needed.
How do I know it's charged and ready?
It charges itself whenever it's plugged in, and the lights on the unit show the charge level. Test it twice a year by switching the socket off at the wall — the hub lights should stay on and a corded phone should still give a dial tone.

Phones and alarms
Will my cordless phone work in a power cut?
Not on its own, because a cordless base station needs mains power too. Keep 1 ordinary corded phone plugged into the hub. They cost a few pounds, need no power of their own, and with LineKeeper behind the hub they work just as the old landline did.
Will a pendant or telecare alarm still work?
Most alarm boxes have their own battery. What they lose in a power cut is the phone line, because the hub goes off. LineKeeper keeps the hub and the line up, so the alarm has something to call through. Always test it with the alarm provider after fitting.
Does this matter now the landline is digital?
Yes — it's exactly why LineKeeper exists. Since the switch to digital phone lines, your home phone plugs into the broadband hub, so no power means no phone line. A battery behind the hub brings back what the old copper line did by itself.
Can I get a free battery backup from my provider?
If you depend on your landline, for example because you have a telecare alarm or no mobile signal, ask your provider. They must offer a free solution to customers who qualify, but it only has to last 1 hour. Everyone else is usually asked to pay around £85 to £150.
Ordering and delivery
How much is delivery and when will it arrive?
Delivery is free and tracked anywhere in the UK, and takes 2 to 5 working days.
Which payment methods can I use?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay — all through Shopify's secure checkout. It's a one-off payment, never a subscription.
What's in the box?
The LineKeeper unit, a set of adapter tips to match your hub's plug, and a splitter lead for homes with a separate Openreach fibre box. Nothing else to buy.
Which pack should I choose?
1 pack covers 1 hub. Most families choose the 2-pack — one for their own home and one for a parent's — and it's the best saving per unit after the 4-pack. Bigger packs cover more homes or a hub plus a second property.
Returns and guarantee
What if it doesn't suit me?
Send it back within 90 days for a full refund, for any reason. No questions, no restocking fee.
How does the 90-day guarantee actually work?
Order, fit LineKeeper, then switch the power off at the fuse box and test it — the hub lights should stay on and a corded phone should still give a dial tone. If it doesn't do what we say, contact us within 90 days of delivery and we'll arrange the return and refund.
What if it develops a fault later?
Contact us and we'll sort it — repair or replacement. The 90-day guarantee covers refunds; after that, faulty units are still our problem, not yours.
How do I contact you?
Through the contact page — we answer every message, usually within 1 working day.
Still stuck?
Send us a message and a real person will answer — usually within 1 working day. Contact us.
